Reading Named Property Hotspots

Sell My House Quickly in Reading

Sell My House Quickly found another interesting article about properties in Reading. Reading named property hotspots for first-time home buyers.

Berkshire’s two biggest towns have been named prime hotspots for first-time buyers.

Both Reading and Slough were named in the list, taking 19 th and 20 th place on a list of the top 20 places in the UK for people investing in their first properties.

Luton was followed by Wolverhampton on the list, compiled by property website Zoopla.

Reading Named Property HotspotsWhile house prices in London are often regarded as too steep for first-time buyers trying to get onto the property ladder, locations in the capital occupied half of the top 20.

Reading and Slough both have excellent transport links to London (especially when the Crossrail is finished) which could be a big reason behind them becoming a haven for first-time buyers.

The Queen Elizabeth line is also set to cut travel times in half for those journeying to London when it eventually opens.

Despite their great transport links and bustling town-like atmosphere, both Reading and Slough are surrounded by green open spaces, making them a great place for a house-hunter looking for the best of both worlds.

In fact, both places were named two of the best places to live in the UK.

Whilst Slough does not have the best reputation, it’s actually a lovely place to live, especially after the upcoming regeneration works are completed.

Slough is home to many multi-national business headquarters through Slough Trading Estate (the largest in Europe) which boots local employment.

Other areas included on the list include Coventry, Harlow and Thurrock.

Zoopla have looked at the places with the highest concentration of first-time buyers asking for more information about properties.

The analysis covered August to December of this year.

Grainne Gilmore, Head of Research at Zoopla, said: “First-time buyers remain one of the largest cohorts of purchasers across the country, and our data shows that they remain very active within the capital.

“There is noticeable activity across the wider commuter zones into the East of England too, perhaps reflecting different commuting patterns for office-based workers.”
